Running Analysis

Learn how to run further, faster and stronger without pain with our detailed running analysis

What is Running Analysis?

Running is a skill that requires development, yet many of us never learn how to run correctly. inefficient running gait can reduce performance and increase injury risk. While a free running assessment in a shop might help you find the right trainers, it’s not all about pronation and footwear.

Our running assessment includes a clinical screening followed by a treadmill assessment to identify weaknesses, imbalances or altered running patterns. By addressing these issues, we can improve your running training load tolerance, reduce injury risk, and enhance overall running performance. And who doesn't want to run faster for longer, pain free?

The Process

Step 1: Clinical Run Specific Assessment

We start with an in-depth history of your running training, injury history, and goals. This is followed by a clinic and rehab gym assessment to identify joint restrictions, weaknesses, previous injuries, and movement patterns that may affect your performance. We also look at footwear to see if your trainers are effecting your running.

Step 2: Running Video Analysis

Next, we use video software and digital pressure sensitive shoe insoles to assess your technique on a treadmill.

We look at:

  • Stride Length
  • Cadence
  • Foot Landing Patterns (heel strike or midfoot)
  • Pronation/Supination
  • Hip and Knee Alignment
  • Ground Reaction Forces
  • Body angles

We take baseline measurements to help guide your running technique coaching.

Step 3: Coaching Your Run Technique

Based on our analysis, we coach you on aspects of your running technique to reduce pain, prevent injuries, and improve performance. This coaching is often done over multiple sessions, with exercises and drills provided for practice between appointments.

Step 4: Individualised Running Specific Exercise Program

You will receive a personalized exercise program addressing findings from your clinical assessment. This includes strengthening and mobility drills to support your running technique improvements. Your program will be accessible online with video demonstrations.

Step 5: Running Reviews

We regularly reassess your progress to refine your technique further and adjust your exercise program to ensure continuous improvement.
